Laboratory services
A well-equipped in-house laboratory is a cornerstone of modern veterinary medicine. Our clinic has comprehensive laboratory equipment that allows us to perform the majority of tests on-site. This means you typically receive results during your visit — no waiting days for an external laboratory's response. Rapid results enable immediate diagnosis and prompt initiation of treatment.
Blood tests
From blood samples we analyse a complete blood count (haematology), clinical chemistry parameters (liver and kidney values, proteins, glucose), electrolytes, hormones (thyroid, adrenal, cortisol), inflammatory markers, and coagulation factors. Blood smear microscopy examines blood cell structure and potential parasites. Blood tests are an important part of nearly all disease investigations as well as pre-anaesthetic assessments.
Urinalysis
Urinalysis provides essential information about kidney function, urinary tract health, and metabolism. We examine urine properties (colour, turbidity, specific gravity), chemical composition (protein, glucose, pH, blood), and sediment under the microscope (crystals, cells, bacteria). When needed, urine cultures and sensitivity testing can be performed to target antibiotic therapy.
Sampling and results
Sample collection is a quick and safe procedure. Blood samples are usually taken from the front leg or neck — animals tolerate this well. Urine samples can be collected from free-catch urine, by catheter, or by cystocentesis (needle aspiration from the bladder under ultrasound guidance). Skin and ear samples are examined under the microscope directly during the consultation. Based on the results, the veterinarian discusses the findings and recommends further treatment.
