Prescription Diets

Prescription diets for disease management

Proper nutrition is an essential part of managing many diseases. Prescription diets are designed to support treatment of conditions such as osteoarthritis, kidney failure, gastrointestinal diseases, food allergies, urinary tract diseases, and weight management. Your veterinarian recommends a suitable diet based on your pet's diagnosis and individual situation.

Brands and range

At our clinic you will find a wide selection of prescription diets from leading manufacturers: Royal Canin, Specific, and Hill's. Our range covers dry and wet foods for dogs and cats. Diets are available directly from the clinic without separate ordering — you can pick up the food during the same visit or order it for collection.

When is a prescription diet needed?

Prescription diets are especially important in kidney failure (reducing phosphorus and protein load), food allergies (hydrolysed or novel protein sources), osteoarthritis (added omega fatty acids and joint-supporting nutrients), urinary tract diseases (urine pH regulation), and weight management (controlled energy content). The right nutrition can significantly improve quality of life.

Expert advice

Our veterinarians help you choose the right diet for your pet. During a nutrition consultation, your pet's health status, weight, and special needs are assessed. We also help with diet transition — switching to a new food is done gradually over about one week. Ask us about any questions related to your pet's nutrition.

Frequently asked questions about prescription diets

Is a prescription needed for special diets? Most prescription diets do not require a prescription and can be purchased directly from the clinic. However, a veterinary recommendation is important to ensure the right diet is chosen for your pet's diagnosis and individual situation. The wrong prescription diet can even worsen symptoms, so we always recommend discussing with the veterinarian before changing diets. Can food be ordered in advance? Yes, you can order food in advance by calling the clinic or mentioning it at your previous visit. We order the food ready for collection so you do not need to wait. We keep a wide stock of the most common prescription diets, but rarer products are ordered on demand — delivery time is usually 1–3 working days.
